It has been something of a Toastmasters ‘contest season’ in the last few weeks!
Our club contest night was held on March 17th. There were two contests on the night:
The International Speech Contest (a prepared speech, 5 to 7mins) – won by Jacque, with her speech “The little things are the big things.”
The Evaluations Contest (an on-the-night evaluation of a guest speaker’s speech) – won by Garth, with his evaluation of Derek’s test speech.
Club winners go through to the represent at the inter-club Area level, and have the opportunity to go through further knockout rounds at regional and national level.
Last night, Garth and Jacque represented us at the Area contest, and both did our club proud:
– Garth placed second in the Evaluations contest
– Jacque won the International contest, and will go through to the next round divisional contest.
Plenty of our members have also had supporting roles throughout the contest season, making it all possible – organising, judging, chairing, marshalling, timing, tally-counting – you name it, plenty have chipped in – a big thankyou to you all.
We’re looking forward to the divisional round – go Jacque!
